Pension calculator · 2026 values

How big will your pension gap be?

Estimate your statutory (state) pension, compare it with the income you would like in retirement and see how much you would need to put aside each month. The calculation runs only in your browser – nothing is stored or sent.

1. Your statutory pension

The calculator assumes retirement at 67 (standard retirement age for people born in 1964 or later; slightly lower for earlier years of birth).

How should we work out your pension?

Under “Höhe Ihrer künftigen Regelaltersrente”, use the amount that applies if you keep paying contributions like in the last five years until retirement age. A statement from before July 2026 uses €40.79 per point; today the amount is about 4% higher.

Monthly salary × 12 plus Christmas and holiday bonuses.

Only years with compulsory contributions, for example from employment or vocational training. School and university years earn hardly any pension points. The amount from your pension statement is more precise.

2. What you would like in retirement

Many people plan for 70 to 80 per cent of their current net income.

For example a company pension, private pension or rental income – in today's money and after deductions (company pensions are also subject to contributions).

Adjust assumptions

An assumption, not a promise. Guaranteed interest in insurance contracts is usually much lower. We do not recommend any particular product here.

Your result

Your result appears here once you have filled in the fields and selected “Calculate pension gap”.

How the calculator works

  • Pension points: your gross annual salary (capped at the contribution ceiling of €101,400) divided by the provisional average earnings for 2026 of €51,944. The calculator assumes your earnings stay at today's level relative to the average throughout your working life.
  • Current pension value (aktueller Rentenwert): since 1 July 2026 each pension point is worth a monthly pension of €42.52. Assumption: pensions will rise roughly with inflation, so pension and gap are shown in today's purchasing power.
  • Deductions for people with statutory health insurance: in the pensioners' health insurance you pay 7.3% plus half of the additional contribution (Zusatzbeitrag; 2.9% on average in 2026, your fund may charge more); for long-term care you pay the full 3.6% (4.2% without children). Taxes are not deducted.
  • Gap and saving: the gap is projected to your retirement with inflation. From this the calculator derives the capital for a monthly payment that rises with inflation and lasts until the chosen age, and the fixed monthly saving that builds up this capital by 67.
  • Not included: reductions for earlier retirement, increases for later retirement, pensions for reduced earning capacity (Erwerbsminderungsrente), the basic pension supplement (Grundrente), private health insurance in retirement, taxes and the costs of any contract.

The calculator is for general guidance only and does not replace your pension statement or personal advice. All interest rates are assumptions, not forecasts or promises.
